Why? 7z is so much better. Thanks so much for converting to this format! I'll be hoping to make a pretty good volcanic tileset soon when I have the time.

Thank you wciow, this post is a very very good idea !!! Thank you for the overview!

Do you still have the "big" versions of the screenshots?
If yes, can you add a link beside the small pics so people can see the things more detailed?
( UPDATE: I already did the update with the big pics to the first post, I hope its OK )

By the way, desert2 was mainly created by me in the end.
I added new sound, new ground textures, new deathtree models. Textures and sound were replaced due to dubious copyrights.
So I think its fair to say it was created by idanwin and me.

I think the guys over at the Scourge RPG project are keen to use some of the trees and foilage from some of these packs.

Is there a place to download the original models?  Are they appropriately licensed?  I notice the titusgames.de site says everything is GPL licensed, but I don't know if that applies to all this or whether it applies to the source or Glest format of the mdoels.

Perhaps somebody could stop by there and engage them?  The discussion starts on page 4 of this thread.

Or reply here and I can convey the response.

They should do. If the original Glest tilesets work these are 99% sure to work.

Basically the tileset just changes the look of the map and no underlying game settings.

That is because you probley dont have 7zip installed. You can get it here.
Evry one uses 7zip because it is the smallest format and takes les bandwith both ways.

Get the Vbros': Packs 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5!

Yeah you can get 7zip or IZArc for Windows.
I like IZArc because it's the best one to use for all formats... :) 7zip is great if you're actually compressing files... :)

7z opens all types of compressed files, and compresses things very well!
Why use IZArc? 7z is the best by far! ::)

I know this (and the ensuing discussion) is OT, but I have to agree. While 7z may very well be a great format, it's lack of common use makes it a problem. I had never heard of it until coming here, and I have yet to use it. I've passed over several downloads b/c of not wanting to worry about a 7z program I had to get too.
If a person like myself is like this, how much more so would a non-technical user be? How will you attract people to your mod if they have the same mindset? Windows opens zips now, easy access has it's perks.
It doesn't matter how great a movie is, if it gets released on VHS only, it's market will be severely limited. Don't limit your market. (note that this is different than an exclusive, like Halo only on Xboxes)

That's my two cents.

Yes thats all true, but if I don't use 7zip I have to
1- pay more for my webpage
2- need a faster internet connection to upload ( what is not available here )

The difference to zip is really big! The megapack_v4 is only half the size in 7zip!

I also think using 7zip is a problem for the normal windows users. But these kind of users typically also have problems with zipfiles and everything that comes without an installer where you only have to click "YES"!!

I think I will try to create an installer for the upcoming megaglest.
