Anyway,  after having had Glest for about a year, I decided to have a go at making my own mod. I like ancient Egypt so that will be the mod. It will include mummies and possibly a son of Osiris!
Anyway, to start of with, I have made a (badly textured and not finished) pyramid: (I will post it tomorrow)

Yay! Tech tree:



Units:
Slave: A basic worker, not very different from tech's worker.

Priest: A medium unit produced from the temple. Can hit things doing medium damage with his staff or do a weak splash attack. Can summon mummies, making him a very useful unit.

Spearman: A cheap and fast melee unit, used for defence early in the game. However, due to not having much armour, he is quite fast, making him a good scout. With an upgrade, he can throw his spears a short distance.

Swordsman: A medium melee unit, being slower than the spearman, but still quite fast.

Mummy: A very fast unit, with his main strength being melee. He rips apart his enemies with deadly strength, but has low health.

Godly animals: Big animals with different strengths (e.g: the snake will have a green magic attack venom spit and a melee attack "bite of the cobra")


What do you guys think of the idea?

I like this idea i just hope you put Anubis as a hero/god character maybe with the ability to summon his own warriors.

Thanks for the ideas!
I think that I could have gods, but wouldn't the game be two easy if you could get lots of them. I think a good idea is to have one god, and for the other gods have representative animals, as titi suggested.
Post your favorite Egyptian god, whoever has the most votes will be modeled.
P.S: does anybody want to help me with modeling? I could do it all myself but it would take a long time.

Modman:In my mod, the defense tower can morph in fire tower. You have only to add a morph skill.
Assassin: For the god farm, I think the name was better if is sacred farm. For the temple, a priest cann't be a mummy onlythe pharaon. I think you should make this:

Temple->Priest->Vizir->Mummy or
             Priest->Pharaon->Mummy

It is only an idea

For the temple, a priest cann't be a mummy onlythe pharaon.
The vast majority of mummies were not pharoahs in life.  Various priests, nobles, diplomats, favored servants, and even animals have been mummified.

Yes, why not? I think the pyramid as a main building is a good idea. Its not very realistic thats true, but hey , its a game!

I know I have mentioned them, but I cant imagine how the gods should fight?

Something like this?
Snake spitting green poison? Or biting?
Ibiz is a flying unit which attacks throwing flashes? Or is it just a healer for example?
Scarab attacks like the bugs in the sstld mod ? (http://media.moddb.com/images/mods/1/6/5862/59783.jpg)

Another thing that you can build in are grasshoppers!
Those were a big plague in those days. Probably one unit can "throw" a swarm of these grasshoppers at the enemy, like my beehive in the indian faction does with bees. This could be an advanced attack(needs upgrades) of the priest for example!

I think the spearman should throw spears!

The gods could attack like those in that Museum movie (I forgot the name), that movie that the museum comes alive at night, and what about Camel Riders??They could have spears or shoot arrows, I dunno.

-A market place for upgrade
-A slinger unit
-A scorpion-man, look like in the mvie, "the Return of the Mummy"

so many ideas! I am fine to do model a market place, but someone else will have to do the models for the units (I'm still a bit of a noob at blender Cheesy)
I thing gameboy is ok doing the mummy, slave and priest units. Anybody else want to help? I will do all xml, buildings, icons... ect

The guy who made SSTLD is myles. Try to contact him via private message, but as far as I remember he doesn't really like it when others used his stuff.
But I can also make a unit if I find the time Smile


Here a warning!:
There are as usual lots of good new faction ideas!
But don't get too complicated! The glest engine and AI was never designed to handle any kind of super tech trees!
And in the end you will end up with another "not finished" glest mod! 

Your techtree looks ok as it is, probably 1 or 2 units more but that should be the maximum.
You will see its a lot of work to finish these things ( Sounds /xml balancing / icons .... )
So keep the things simple like in one of the original factions.

Excellent idea for a faction assassin. I like your tech tree alot its simple and i think it will work well with magitech.

My only concern is that your ultimate building is a farm that produces snakes and scarabs. Maybe it could produce different incarnations of gods with animal heads. 

As Titi said try to keep things simple. Making a good faction takes time. Luckily everyone (myself included) seems to be offering to help model for you so things might speed up a little, anyway best of luck with this mod  Wink
