You can upload a screenshot to imageshack.us and post the "forum thumbnail" code, then upload the map itself to a hosting site like Mediafire.com or Filefront.com and post the link here in tags.  To get a good screenshot, you need to zoom all the way out.  I think there's some setting in your glest.ini that determines maximum zoom distance, and you want to change that to a really big number so you can zoom way out and get a good look.

press FN + print screen on your keyboard or open the program snipping tool that is if you have windows vista - windows 7.  :)

that just gave me an idea maybe glest's map editor can have a "take snapshot of map" button and you can save it! :D

Hi, can you please use another service, please? I think mediafire is good. Because easyshare has a 1 minute wait time, and additional to that, when I press "download" the timer went back again... (tried 3 times) :( thanks.

Urg, please don't post images of the map editor... It's pretty useless. Post images of the map itself! For an example, click on the name of any map here and a lightbox image of the map will pop up. IE:

(Note, this doesn't work in IE, yet)

I strongly recommend mediafire for maps. Very very strongly... And no, its not normal. Sometimes mediafire does that. Just try again. Alternatively, try filefront, as it is very fast and very good.

To take a picture:
You must use GAE. Normal glest will not work. Start a game with this map, make sure fog of war is *off*. The tileset CANNOT have fog, so either take that out in the XML, or use Military, since its tilesets are custom edited, and removed the useless fog (not to mention military already has the INI settings done, meaning you can skip the rest and start military's included GAE). Anyway, you need to set the INI settings to let you zoom out far enough, and to make the camera render far enough.
Code: [Select]
CameraMaxDistance=1024.00
RenderDistanceMax=1024.00
That should be enough to do up to 256x256 maps.

Bear in mind that the larger the map, the more it lags when zoomed out this far. Consider pausing the game to increase performance slightly. A 64x64 map can zoom out far enough without any lag, but a 256 x 256 will take more time because of the lag, but it is indeed possible (I took all the pictures at the above site on my old crappy laptop). Now, once zoomed out enough to see the entire map, you need a screen capture program to take a picture of the screen. On windows, the snipping tool will do. For mac, you can see this article about that.

Now, a short post script about posting the tags with [url.] (period so it isn't rendered). I just thought I'd mention there is a hidden tag called nobbc which lets you type tags inside of it without them being rendered. ie: [nobbc]my.site[/nobbc]

Thanks a lot, downloading. Really, it kept showing the timer again and again.
Now you can use megaglest to take a screenshot of the "whole maps" borrowed from GAE though. Of course. GAE is fine though.  :thumbup: Awesomeness.

I'm bored a lot these days 8), so here is a new map :
http://www.mediafire.com/?mxolnz4ldgm

Its not fair, its more of a challenge, maybe could be used in a scenario? One player on top of the mountain and 3 others attacking him. So the best thing to do if you want a challenge is to be player 1 vs 3 other teamed players. If you manage to win, tell me! And if you have problems too :O Have a nice game! :D You start with more resources than your opponents.
Does that camera code only exist in GAE? I use MG, but i can't find it.

Some tips, make trees or water at the edge of the map, it looks better. And use bushes along the edges of your maps. But all in all they look pretty good.

Challenge is very biased. Blue has a resource advantage, while yellow has a big disadvantage.

Up vs down is too small, especially at the bases. The resources in the path make navigation even harder.

BTW: What map editor are you using? I recommend the GAE/Zombiepirate/whatever map editor, since it has a number of changes. I know you are not using it, since it has the player starting locations the same color as they are in game (not to mention water is blue).

Really, though, why can't you post ingame screens? You know how to use GAE, right?

Just follow my previous instructions, or use military's custom GAE to skip that step. Its not hard and worth it.

I dont use GAE lol. I did not even download it yet. I prefer MG. I am using the glest normal map editor. Those two maps where hastaly made, i will upgrade them soon ;D

Challenge is very biased. Blue has a resource advantage, while yellow has a big disadvantage.
Its called challenge after all....Its supposed to be a disadvantage.

Btw give feedback for the 256 256 map, i did my best for that one :)

Dude, download GAE, NOW! You will not regret it. Besides, GAE has dozens of handy things for playing (and modding glest). Not to mention you can take pictures of your maps (which will probably double your downloads. Many people, me included, prefer not to just download everything we see, and would appreciate the ability to preview something before we download it. Often times, its also possible to notice errors or bad areas in maps just by looking at it.

ie: A picture of a map can show you that the start locations could be unbalanced, or perhaps there is too few resources, etc;

Well...if you want to save the time downloading Vanilla Glest + GAE, then...just use the "build in zooming out for MG"...well of course borrowed from GAE...I think...just edit glest.ini in your megaglest folder.
Code: [Select]
PhotoMode=trueInstead of being false... and no fog of war too when you set up that game...
Tried it myself just now, and it is fine...weird though, as at least in GAE I remember you had to set other settings too, since that photomode is just for the GUI (taking away the # of resources, minimap, and such...and etc.)
And that should be it...I think.  :|
EDIT:...
Quote
- Fully working Photo Mode where you may take good photos of your mega-glest
  game / mao scenario by setting the value in glest.ini:
  PhotoMode=true
Not sure if it is from...GAE, entirely...  :|
